INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (WLFI) - A local woman says an opinion from the state attorney general validates her fight to make sure schools follow public bidding laws. In 2004,
Diana Vice, of Taxpayers United for Fairness, contacted the State Board of Accounts about a roofing project at Rossville Schools. Vice said the state bidding laws where violated when Rossville School Corporation contracted with a company called TREMCO for roofing repairs. She said TREMCO was hired to do the work, but sub-contracted the project to another company for half the price. The State Board of Accounts is investigating TREMCO projects across the state and asked the Attorney General for clarification on the public work statute. Steve Carter's opinion states that schools must adhere to the statute and follow state bidding rules on all roof repair and replacement projects. Vice said the the ruling confirms what she has been saying and will help her fight a defamation lawsuit TREMCO filed against her.
