Councilor Sanders absence at last night's meeting explained

I got a short email today from Adam Kirsch, Executive Director of the Marion County Democrats to explain why Joanne Sanders was not at last night's city council committee hearing decide whether to send the contentious CIB bailout to full council. I think it sounds entirely plausible considering city councilors almost always have regular jobs too. It does not surprise me that the Republicans switched the meeting time. In a separate email, Adam Kirsch stated on the record that Ms. Sanders vote would have been "NAY". He offered no excuse for another democrat city councilor, Monroe Gray who was also absent. Here's the letter:

Melyssa:
Councillor Sanders was out of town on responsibilities with her full time job that evening, and couldn’t attend. She was going to be back for the originally scheduled committee meeting, but the Republican majority changed the meeting time, and she could not attend. Councillor Sanders is on record as not supporting the Ballard CIB tax increase.
Best,
Adam Kirsch

Let me say first of all, that I have thought so highly of Joanne Sanders that I have contributed money to her campaign a few years back.

That said, your source must be a bit off or the meeting was rescheduled twice.

The Council calendar that I have, dated 1/5/09, shows the committee meeting set for 7-28-09. That same calendar is still available at http://www.indy.gov/eGov/Council/Documents/Calendar09.pdf

I don't doubt that Sanders was out of town unavoidably. Perhaps her spokesman meant to refer to Lutz' intention to delay the vote to a meeting yet to be set for the following week.

I am happy to hear she intends to vote no on prop 285.

The meeting time is always 5:30pm. Nothing was switched except the room.

Is Sanders the puppet of the democrat party?
Why is a political party answering questions that should be answered by the elected official?
Who is pulling her strings?
If they have all of the answers...where the hell was Gray?
