I don't see how any state can stop the amazing rise in property taxes...
The big problem is government employees pay and retirement.
Many years ago, government pay was generally very modest. Mailmen (they were all men then) and fireman (ditto) got modest pay , they lived in modest houses. In fact it was common to TIP your mailman at the time, at Christmas time, because their pay was so modest.
Fireman would work another job.
But to compensate for the low pay, the job was generally easy, and you could retire at a relatively young age.
Now, however, government jobs are much more numerous (10% of the workforce "works" for the government) and the pay is substantially better.
But even more, retirements are outta sight. We have people retiring at age 50, who were overpaid for 25 years, and who will now get another 25 years of most of their pay PLUS in many cases, free medical care.
So until you change government pay and retirmenet -- you can forget lowering property taxes.
