Andrea Neal: Incumbents know we're watching

Brian Bosma says property taxes are the number one issue this year in the general assembly. Taxes took a back seat last year to the marriage amendment. This year the same folks are trying to push their issue on our legislators again regardless of the state of Indiana's homeowners' finances.

Today Andrea Neal writes a great column in the Indy Star reminding lawmakers that We, The People are watching. We intend to replace every legislator who does not back property tax repeal. The war for property tax elimination bewteen The People vs. The lawmakers is on! Don't expect the lawmakers who are anti-repeal to keep their elected office.

I am a huge supporter of the Fair Tax and I think everyone recognizes the need for strong reform of the property tax system. But I have to say that I think the notion that taxes took a back seat to the marriage amendment is just silly. There are countless issues the legislature considers every session. The marriage amendment took a hearing in each house, as every other bill does, and it was voted on, as are the other bills.

Be careful not to divide your supporters with this kind of talk.

It is not about dividing supporters but rather asking for focus and leadership to those select key issues that will make a difference. By putting everything in the pot, you only get a stew.
