FairTax Event - July 9, 2007 - Indianapolis, IN

Sean Shepard, candidate for Congress on March 11, was one of the key activists who put together this forum. This forum was the first education forum in Indiana in response to the property tax crisis.

The event was covered on all four news channels and the Indy Star.

The other candidates were not there or at any other forum, educational event, or rally concerning the #1 crisis in Indiana.

Sean was there all along giving YOU representation as an activist.

Well, Melyssa, darling, that's all well and good, but as a potential member of Congress, he knows, and I'm sure you do, too, that property taxes are a STATE issue.

But he is an attractive candidate anyway.

How much of Indiana property taxes are driven by Federal mandates? How much does inflation affect Indiana State and local governments? How about mindless and stupid federal laws? Or, mandates to schools without the promised funding? Melyssa is generally a step ahead of the rest of us....

Anon 7:38 is correct. Property taxes are a State and Local issue relative to the levies and payments.

Anon 2:40 is also correct that there is an element to the cost of government that gets thrust upon State and Local entities by unfunded Federal mandates.

I'm not sure what Melyssa's original post was intending to convey other than the fact that I've been serious about the need for less spending, lower taxes and reform for some time and didn't just raise my hand and jump into things because an opening unexpectedly became available.

I don't believe she was confusing Federal vs. State issues.
