Fox59 10pm news gave a terrific report on the work of Indy.org to find a silver lining in this summer's insane gasoline inflation.

Their answer to summer vacation?

Why vacation right here in Indiana, of course.

In my opinion we have one of the best states in America. It is clean. It is friendly. And believe it or not, there is quite a bit of culture here. A few years ago a friend came to visit Gen Con and me from Connecticut. He is a top tier Madison Avenue graphic designer with his work in magazines like Rolling Stone.

He was utterly astounded by how gorgeous our downtown looks. He was particularly impressed with the Soldiers & Sailors Monument and Market Street leading to the Capitol building.

Nevertheless, there is so much to do here in Indianapolis and throughout the state. Go to weekend small town festivals and stay at bed and breakfasts. Spread your vacation dollars around right here at home

By staying close to home, you might even find a little extra change to spend on vacation frills like a five-star hotel, award-winning gourmet dining, a houseboat or jet ski rental, pampering at one of our many spas, a little more cash for the blackjack table, and more museum admission fees.

Every penny you spend in Indiana helps us all!

You also might find you are a little less stressed out about taking your family on a vacation when you are close to home.
.
We can all work together to do good things to invigorate our own state's economy while we continue to work on getting good public servants into office.
