The US government has no agreement in place to audit or control the functions of the Federal Reserve. The Congress signed control over US monetary policy to the private Federal Reserve banks back in 1913. The fact that members of our government are only now expressing shock is more of an indictment against them than it is against the Inspector General. She knows and understands her scope. Our elected representatives obviously don't. The fact that they only show interest once the Fed has already proactively and intentionally sunk our economy tells me that our representatives were content with private interests controlling our financial system - until things started to look bad.
